Adjusting the brake cable

Setting the brake.

Written by Lise Augment

This is how you adjust the brake cable to your preferred strength.

1. On the brake handle, you must loosen the adjustment screw so that it is completely loose (see picture below)

2. Unscrew the adjusting screw on the rear brake cable that sits with the brake caliper

3. Unscrew the screw holding the wire, then pull the wire down to tighten. When the cable is taut, tighten all screws, including the adjustment screws, to your liking 👍. After completing the adjustments, test the brakes by squeezing the lever and observing the braking response. Ensure the wheel spins freely without rubbing and that the brakes engage firmly when actuated. Make small adjustments as needed for optimal performance. If you experience brake caliper misalignment, loosen the two mounting screws holding the rear brake caliper. Adjust the caliper position so the pads do not rub when the wheel spins, then retighten the screws securely. For rear brake locking issues, loosen the caliper adjustment screw and pull the caliper body slightly forward to bring the brake pads closer to the disc. Retighten the screw securely to reduce excessive travel and prevent locking. Optional: Connect the Augment app to your scooter and set the e-ABS brake setting to "Weak" for improved braking response.
